About the
maniACTs
Who we are
We are amateurs. Although we aim for a high level of professionalism, all of us are in it for the love of English-language theatre.
We are from all walks of life. Although we are the English Department's drama group, anyone with a passion for theatre is welcome to join us.
We are a family. Although each production brings new faces into the spotlight, once you join us there will always be a place for you in our group.
What we do
Our main business is putting on a great new production every semester. This means lots of hard work on stage and off - and plenty of opportunities to join.
We also read plays together, have social events, and every one in a while throw a smashing party.
How we work
We have a new director every semester, who has full creative control over the production (click here if you are interested in directing).
To make sure things run smoothly across semesters, the maniACTs council manages everything from finances to PR, props, costumes, stage, and tech.

A bit of history
The maniACTs have been around for longer than any of our active members remember. The group has existed continuously since at least the 1980s. This makes us by far the oldest university drama group in Freiburg.
Pictures from our more recent productions can be seen here.
